[abandon] freeze et carte graphique NVIDIA GT218M

Bonsoir,
Question : qqn a-t-il l'expérience d'une carte graphique NVIDIA GT218M (NVS 3100M) ?
J'ai un Thinkpad T510 qui me fait des misères (des freeze dont même les touches magiques ne me sortent pas).
J'ai installé le pilote propriétaire.

J'ai eu beau farfouiller, je ne trouve pas d'infos.

Avant, sur cette machine, j'avais Mint Cinnamon. Et j'avais eu des freeze à répétition, avant que je me décide à installer le pilote propriétaire.
Là, je me demande s'il ne faut pas que je change de distribution (je sais que certains bureaux provoquent plus d'ennuis que d'autres) ou si je dois essayer le pilote libre. Au pire je peux essayer de retourner vers une Linux Mint basée sur Ubuntu, mais ça m'embêterait beaucoup.
Bref, des échanges d'expérience me feraient du bien.

J'ai aussi cherché des infos sur le forum de Linux Mint (j'ai LMDE Mate) : si je trouve des infos utiles ailleurs, je les fait remonter ici.

tu n'a pas de probleme materiel (surchauffe ou autre ) ?
c'est une base sur debian jessie avec nouveau tu ne devrais pas avoir de problème roll
mate ou xfce ne sont pas particulièrement gourmand en ressources graphique
il peut y avoir un souci avec certain modèles de carte.

dans ce fichier , vers milieu/fin  tu a une liste des cartes compatible  => /usr/share/doc/nvidia-driver/README.txt.gz  (pour le driver propriétaire )
regarde si tu trouve la tienne (avec le M version portable )

nota : vérifier les logs , dans /var/log/syslog et /var/log/Xorg.0.log  si des erreurs

installe le paquet nvidia-detect  et lance la commande


nvidia-detect
 


la réponse va te conseiller un driver (ou plusieurs )  par exemple "legacy-304" et/ou  "340"

Bonjour

les freezes proviennent surement d'un probleme logiciel ou materiel , je pense pas que ce soit un probleme de driver (il a testé nouveau et nvidia non free ) sur plusieurs distribution
et il y a de forte chance que le freeze ne laisse aucune trace dans les logs
je vai essayer de trouver des infos sur le net sur => Thinkpad T510

le processeur a un gpu intégré => http://ark.intel.com/fr/products/43560/ … e-2_66-GHz

peut etre regarder de ce coté la , voir si par défaut c'est le gpu intel qui est utilisée (ou pas ) , sur le premier lien je ne voit rien au sujet d un apu intel + gpu nvidia (juste de la carte nvidia )

nota peut etre nous poster le log de => " /var/log/Xorg.0.log"

Je me rends compte que j'ai installé la version 340 et que nvidia-detect recommande la version 304 !
Le 340, c'est ce que j'avais sous Mint Cinnamon 17.3.
Bon, ben je vais essayer de changer ça !
Je dois faire gicler le driver 340 et installer le 304.
J'avais à l'époque suivi un tuto pour remplacer le pilote libre par le pilote propriétaire. Je dois pouvoir m'en servir pour remplacer un pilote propriétaire par un autre.

non il te conseille le 340


It is recommended to install the
    nvidia-driver
 



le defaut driver c'est nvidia-driver pour jessie (le 340) et le legacy driver (le 304)
tu peut essayer , tu désinstalle le 340 , tu reboot  et tu purge bien le nvidia-driver
tu reboot et tu dois etre sur nouveau (le libre )

ce qui donne :
mettre a jour le cache apt


apt-get update
 


mettre a jour debian


apt-get upgrade
 


purger nvidia


apt-get remove --purge nvidia*
 


supprimer le fichier xorg.conf et le dossier xorg.conf.d


cd /etc/X11
ls
si présent  "xorg.conf"
rm xorg.conf
si present "xorg.conf.d"
rm -r xorg.conf.d
 


tu nettoie les résidus de l installation du driver 340


apt-get autoremove --purge
 


un petit nettoyage de ton cache apt (optionnel )


apt-get autoclean
 


un reboot


reboot
 



ps: j'aimerai voir le contenu de ton xorg.conf avant de l éffacer , tu la fait a la main ou par un utilitaire ?

nota : a part ceci =>  "[   234.412] (II) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Display (Lenovo Group Limited (DFP-0)) does not support NVIDIA" pour la 3D vision, tout est correct dans ton log , tu charge dri et dri2 ta carte est bien reconnu

pour l installation du 304 , soit tu prend le wiki D_F pour nvidia , la section legacy driver 304 , soit par synaptic si tu te sent a l'aise
ps: la bonne méthode c'est par le wiki tongue  mais certains le font par synaptic neutral

Je crois que j'avais suivi le wiki de ce site.

Si je dois éditer un fichier, comment est-ce que je m'y prends ?
Ben ça dépends. Souvent comme il y a des wiki qui me guident pas à pas sous la console, je me contente de suivre les indications.
Mais je peux aussi ouvrir directement le fichier (en mode administrateur) et le modifier comme ça. C'est égal.

Effectivement et utiliser vim t'ouvre des perspectives qui vont bien au-delà des configurations... wink

Nota :
Avec vim s'installe automatique un vimtutor qui fait le déblayage des commandes de base à utiliser avec vim et d'une manière très ludique en plus !
Une fois commencé, on ne peut plus s'en passer, on devient adicte à donf. ... acid.gif

J'ai essayer de suivre les indications pour virer la version 340 et installer la 304... Et je me retrouve planté.
Redéfaire ce que j'ai fait, essayer de comprendre, trop de boulot...
Je jette l'éponge.
Je repars sur du propre.
Je m'installe une Debian Jessie Mate.
Je pars sur des bases saines.
Et je ne touche plus à rien tant que je ne suis pas 100% sûr.

d'aprés smolski il n'est plus obligatoire meme avec jessie et le 340

tant pis , j'espere ne pas avoir fait d erreur dans la procédure , aprés le nettoyage tu n'a pas retrouvé le bureau sous le driver nouveau
ou c'est a l installation du 304 que ça a bugué ?

l'essentiel est de ne pas te dégouter , si de refaire une installation propre c'est mieux pour toi
a mes début , j'avais cette manie de refaire l installation au moindre souci  wink

En fait j'ai suivi la procédure de anonyme pour désinstaller la version 340.
Au redémarrage, forcément, je me suis retrouvé en mode ligne de commande (pas de serveur graphique, c'est normal)
J'ai ensuite suivi un wiki sur debian.org pour installer la version 304.
J'ai suivi ces indications pour le fichier xorg.conf (méthode automatique)
J'ai eu un message d'erreur (inadécuation du module nvidia chargé), m'indiquant que j'installait un pilote (304) ne correspondant pas au module actuellement chargé (340).
Je suis allé de l'avant.
Au redémarrage, je n'avais pas de serveur graphique.
(je résume)

Ayant eu la prudence de faire une partition /home séparée, je recours à la solution de facilité.
Par contre je renonce à Jessie Mate pour aujourd'hui. Le home contient des fichiers de configuration cachés, bien pratiques quand on réinstalle tout. Mais si on réinstalle avec une gestionnaire de fenêtres plus ancien que ce qui était installé au préalable, on risque des soucis... (LMDE installe une version récente de Mate).

c'est la le souci , le paquet xserver-xorg-video-nouveau doit etre installé (l installation du driver non-free le désactive)
donc au reboot tu aurais du basculer sur nouveau puisque normalement il n'y a plus de trace du 340 et plus de fichier xorg.conf
a tu bien effacé le fichier xorg.conf et le dossier xorg.conf.d qui font référence au driver 340 ?

pour nouveau tu peut utiliser ce fichier xorg.conf


Section "Device"
    Identifier  "Device0"
    Driver    "nouveau"
    EndSection
 



pour le mode automatique smile

avec le driver nouveau

avec le driver nvidia

je n'utilise pas la méthode automatique avec l utilitaire nvidia-xconfig (je n installe meme pas le paquet )

éviter le dossier /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d et travailler sous /etc/X11 (supprimer ce dossier , sur une installation neuve il n existe pas) .
et ne pas oublier de supprimer les vieux fichiers xorg.conf non utilisés .

sauf erreur de ma part aprés la purge du driver propriétaire tu dois te retrouver au reboot avec le driver nouveau

voila ça te servira peut etre si tu refais une installation du driver

il est bien détaillé pour chaque cas , nouveau , non-free nvidia et non-free legacy-nvidia (tous les sites les procedures ne sont pas forcement a jour , sur D_F il est correct pour la derniere stable (jessie) et chaque membre a l occasion  de l améliorer si nécessaire )

Mais là j'ai abandonné justement.
J'ai remis une installation à neuf de LMDE Mate (en conservant le /home) et pour l'instant, j'essaie avec le pilote libre.
