Bumblebee sans Nvidia ni Nouveau

Bonjour,

J'ai acheté un HP Omen core i5 gtx 950, pensant qu'il était plutôt compatible linux car j'avais trouvé les mêmes caractéristiques chez un fournisseur de portables compatibles Linux, chipset h170 ou z170 je ne sais plus. Donc avec Nvidia Optimus

Il y a quatre jours que je parcours tous les forums en long et en large !
J'ai fait un double boot Win10 et Debian, après avoir bien galéré à cause de l'EFI et donc grub-efi
J'ai mis du temps à comprendre que je devais utiliser Bumblebee à cause d'Optimus
J'ai suivi à la lettre votre tuto Nvidia bumblebee et je me trouve dans une situation louche !

Mon portable affiche le graphique, mais ni Nvidia, ni Nouveau sont chargés ? Est ce-que bumblebee fait le minimum ?

Je peux charger à la main Nvidia : modprob -a nvidia fonctionne est charge le module sans aucun commentaire.

suite à ça quand je fais : service bumblebee restart, pas de commentaire non plus, mais le module nvidia est déchargée ?

glxgear fonctionne
optirun glxgear dit : ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU - error: [XORG] (EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA GPU at PCI:1:0:0.

Comment puis-je procéder pour avancer ? Que vérifier ?

Outre le fait que les caractéristiques données sont compatibles avec une dizaine de modèles de la série HP OMEN 15-ax000, il est possible que tu aies brûlé des étapes... correctement reconnus et pilotés, ces contrôleurs graphiques devraient produire le retour suivant (note que l'option -k de lspci est toujours intéressante) :

Le contrôleur Intel HD Graphics 530 est, semble-t-il, pris en charge par le noyau à partir de la version 3.19 et requiert un firmware fourni par le paquet firmware-misc-nonfree. L'affichage se fait-il malgré tout à la résolution définition nominale de l'écran, à savoir 1920x1080 ?

Le contrôleur GTX 950M est en principe supporté par nouveau... pour quelle raison as-tu installé le pilote propriétaire ? Quelques messages d'erreur sont explicités dans différents wikis (cf. ici, ici, ou ) mais une recherche sur le message d'erreur exact et complet sera également utile, de même que l'examen du fichier journal du serveur X :

cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log


Si tu postes des résultats, n'hésite surtout pas à employer les balises adaptées, merci smile

En fait l'option -k ne dit pas grand-chose sur le contrôleur Intel non plus, et le retour de xrandr est un peu maigrichon... en principe le pilote (module du noyau) i915 devrait être utilisé, or ce n'est pas le cas ; que donne :

dmesg | grep firmware


C'est à confirmer, mais je doute que le noyau 3.16 puisse faire tourner cette machine relativement récente de manière optimale... par contre l'upgrade du noyau risque d'être sportive, après l'installation de Bumblebee hmm

Bonsoir,

Pour le coup le retour est pollué de messages obsolètes (depuis l'installation du paquet firmware-iwlwifi, dimanche soir entre 19:13 et 19:54) ; quoi qu'il en soit, aucun firmware en lien avec le contrôleur graphique Intel n'est chargé. Je crois que pour que Bumblebee/Optimus fonctionne correctement, il faudrait déjà que que le GPU primaire soit correctement pris en charge, ce qui ne semble pas être le cas actuellement.

N'ayant pas la moindre idée de la façon dont tu as procédé à l'installation de Bumblebee, je ne me risquerais pas à te guider pour la mise à niveau du noyau c'est toi le spécialiste du vol en rase-motte à grande vitesse et des virages dangereux. Ceci dit l'upgrade concomitante du paquet firmware-iwlwifi pourrait t'éviter de perdre le réseau Wi-Fi (et te permettre de gagner le Bluetooth) ; pour le réseau Ethernet ce sera la surprise (firmware-realtek ?).

Note : apparemment/curieusement le contrôleur GTX 950M requiert un firmware (nouveau/nv117_fuc409c), pas cool ça hmm

En fait je n'ai rien fait de particulier pour l'installation, j'avais ajouté quelques firmware manquant, dont firmware-iwlwifi. Mon wifi fonctionne très bien, pas le Bluetooth.

Je pense que tout n'est pas si bien pris en charge que ça sous debian, encore une fois je n'ai fait que suivre les deux tuto du site.

Merci pour ton aide, je vais essayer de partir directement avec une testing dès l'installation.

J'ai tout réinstaller avec la Stretch, du coup plus de problème de grub cette fois ci, j'avais quelques firmware manquant que j'ai ajouté : firmware-iwlwifi, firmware-realtek, firmware-misc-non-free. Je récupère mon wifi à ce moment là, mais il manque tout de même certaines mise à jour qui sont visiblement pas encore disponibles !

Bumblebee semble correctement installé (cf. les entrées bbswitch dans le retour de dmesg) et le contrôleur Intel correctement piloté (cf. les occurrences de i915), toutefois le dernier message d'erreur ressemble à un vieux bogue, comme le montre une petite recherche ciblée ; installer le paquet xserver-xorg-input-mouse modifierait ce message, mais ne réglerait le problème neutral

Note : les retours des commandes citées au post #3 auraient pu être intéressants.

et le retour de Xorg.0.log  (sous gnome il se trouve peut etre dans ton /home/user/........  )

il y a peut etre encore un souci avec "nouveau"  sur la prise en charge de ta 950M
pour intel voir si KMS est utilisé , et désinstaller le "xserver-xorg-video-intel"

peut etre le Xorg.0.log peut te donner quelques informations sur l init des systèmes de pointages

nota :  tu peu aussi comparer entre l utilisation de "nouveau" ou de "nvidia" avec bumblebee  (si le fonctionnement est meilleur dans un des 2 cas )

Merci pour vos réponses. J'ai déjà changer, je suis repassé avec le driver proprio de Nvidia. Depuis Otpirun fonctionne !
Mais je ne comprends pas j'ai pas de module chargé ! ni nvidia (ou nvidia-current) ni nouveau ! Et Nvidia-settings m'affirme que je n'utilise pas Nvidia ??

Je reviens vers vous ce soir, je n'ai pas mon portable sous la main !

Certaines choses fonctionnent mieux, mais j'avoue que je ne sais plus dans quelle direction chercher.
Il faut modifier certains paramètres dans les fichiers de conf de bumblebee peut-être ?

Ben c'est nickel tout ça, qu'est-ce qui te chagrine ? Utiliser la carte NVIDIA n'est pas une fin en soi, et le boulot de Bumblebee est de switcher (GPU primaire → GPU secondaire) uniquement quand c'est nécessaire... que donne :

lspci -nnk | egrep -A 2 'VGA|3D'


Tu as testé avec 'optirun machin' et ça a fonctionné, donc c'est bon. Merci pour tes retours smile

En tout cas depuis que bumblebee est installé l'autonomie est passée de 2 ou 3 heures à plus de quatre heures. C'est plus bien ça !

Alors le module nvidia est très vraisemblablement déchargé dès qu'il ne sert plus... d'ailleurs l'entrée 'Kernel modules: nvidia' montre qu'il reste à disposition ; nouveau a été 'blacklisté' et n'est donc plus trop dans le coup. Tu pourrais probablement voir Bumblebee à l'œuvre en lançant d'autres commandes parallèlement à 'optirun machin', par exemple :

tail -f /var/log/messages

devrait/pourrait te montrer bbswitch en pleine action

lsmod | grep nvidia


lspci -k | grep -A 3 3D

devrait/pourrait te renvoyer quelque chose du genre,

Quant à l'augmentation d'autonomie que tu as constatée, il est possible que d'autres éléments entrent en jeu, car si j'ai bien compris le GPU secondaire (NVIDIA) ne peut être utilisé que si Bumblebee est fonctionnel.

Quoi qu'il en soit, c'est chouette de chercher à comprendre, et tes retours pourront servir à d'autres big_smile
