[RÉSOLU] Xorg a disparu après installation driver Nvidia

Bonjour à tous,

C'est un domaine que je ne connais mal. Hier j'ai trouvé des drivers pour ma nouvelle carte graphique :

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GA104 [GeForce RTX 3070 Ti] (rev a1)

J'ai utilisé une archive qui était proposée sur le site de Debian :

Multiple precompiled driver versions are available for Debian 12 "Bookworm":

Version 470.129.06 (supported devices)

Supports Kepler, Maxwell, Pascal, Turing, and all current Ampere GPUs. Supports Vulkan 1.2 and OpenGL 4.6.

Version 390.144 (supported devices)

Supports Fermi, Kepler, Maxwell, and most Pascal GPUs. Supports Vulkan 1.0 on Kepler and newer, supports up to OpenGL 4.5 depending on your card.

J'ai installé cette version  : Version 470.129.06

Alors, au démarrage, il y a des erreurs que je n'arrive pas à lire, ça va trop vite. Ensuite j'arrive sur l'invite du login. Là dans la petite roue crantée en bas à droite je peux choisir si je veux me loguer en : plasama, Cinnamon ou autre. J'avais aussi le choix de Gnome Xorg.

J'avais des applications qui ne fonctionnaient que sur Xorg. Sur Gnome (la version normale) ces app ne fonctionnent pas.

Aurais-je dû installer la version qui supporte OpenGL 4.5 ? Est-ce que je peux "downgrader" de la version 470.129.06 à 390.144 ?

Si vous avez des pistes, je veux bien !

Bonjour
utilise nvidia-detect du nom du paquet a installer "nvidia-detect"  et suis la recommandation

It is recommended to install the
 

tu est sous testing (bookworm)
il faut une debian propre (plus de trace d'un ancienne installation du driver nvidia )
il faut le bon couple linux-image et linux-headers
surveiller le retour du log d'installation voir si des erreurs
pour avoir  image et headers correct une commande

apt --reinstall install linux-image-amd64 linux-headers-amd64
 

ps: pour les vieux noyau a mon avis tu peu supprimer , le driver ne fonctionnera  (et ou sera mal compiler )

pour le reste pas compris , tu a uniquement le bureau en wayland (ou tu n'a plus de bureau ?) ?

lit le paragraphe Wayland du lien en entier (traduction si besoin)

désolé je suis largué sur cette affaire , a mon époque "nvidia-driver" uniquement pour X .
et je n'utilise pas gnome ni wayland
ta carte est récente , a mon avis le dernier driver convient (voir le retour de "nvidia-detect").
pour les applications en serveur X , il me semble que Wayland le prend en charge (avec le paquet xwayland).

le dernier driver sur bookworm/sid

This version only supports GeForce, NVS, Quadro, RTX, Tesla, ... GPUs based on
the Maxwell, Pascal, Volta, Turing, Ampere or newer architectures.
 

je sais pas ce qu'il faut comprendre :

Le pilote binaire NVIDIA fournit une accélération matérielle optimisée de
Applications OpenGL/GLX/EGL/GLES via un serveur X à rendu direct
pour les cartes graphiques utilisant des jeux de puces NVIDIA.
 

a mon avis tu aurais moins de problème sous bullseye
pour les erreurs de la machine

OpenGL aucun rapport , pour downgrader non
il faut purge l'ancien driver avant

apt remove --purge *nvidia*
 

sans redémarrer , puis installer le nouveau driver
sinon tenter ceci

dmesg | grep -i DRM
 

ou

dmesg | grep -i nvidia
 

la version du driver par défaut sous bookworm qui prend en charge ta carte

a mon avis j'installe le driver ci dessus , et par exemple j'essaie d'ouvrir "synaptic" de gnome (application X) par le menu du bureau
je suis sous sid avec le bureau mate et une GTX770  sous "nouveau" , je peut pas faire plus comme test

j'ai  installé gdm3 et gnome-core (a coté de mate) avec une GTX1070 (pascal) avec une debian bookworm
avec l'engrenage j'ai tous mes bureaux , mate , gnome ,gnome-classic
je suis bien sous X , a priori je n'ai pas gnome sous wayland , ce qui me semble correct .
le Xorg.0.log est revenu sous /var/log/Xorg.0.log (au lieu de /home/$USER/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log)

ps: j'ai gardé tous les logs si besoin , mais les choses ont bien changé depuis debian buster (enfin pour moi). nvidia et gnome

je suis bien sous X , a priori je n'ai pas gnome sous wayland , ce qui me semble correct .

Sous mon engrenage j'ai aussi Gnome - Gnome Classic - Cinnamon et Plasama, mais pas Xorg.

Je poste les logs et le retour des différentes commandes que tu recommandes.

j'ai "Default Xsession" aussi qui me renvoie sur le bureau mate
j'ai basculé de lightdm + mate sur gdm3+mate+gnome+gnome classic
lightdm est toujours installé , mais pas utilisé , c'est gdm3 mon gestionnaire de connexion actuel .

donc pour toi actuellement , gnome = gnome sousX
donc toutes tes applications sous X doivent fonctionner , tu confirme ?

tu a vérifier ceci

le Xorg.0.log est revenu sous /var/log/Xorg.0.log (au lieu de /home/$USER/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log)

tu regarde au deux endroit (ton home ou /var/log )

si le fichier existe la première ligne te donne le chemin du log

quelques lignes plus bas la date et l'heure du log qui correspond au dernier démarrage de la machine

si tu a tout cela tu est bien sous X
pour le menu tu dois choisir gnome a l'invite de connexion
pourquoi tu n'a pas "gnome sous X" sûrement parce que tu n'a pas Wayland a cause du driver nvidia.
ps: il y a une commande pour savoir le type de bureau utilisé (moi et la mémoire    )

teste ceci

echo "$XDG_SESSION_TYPE"
 

moi il renvoie (sous gnome)

x11
 

donc Xorg , c'est Wayland qui a disparût suite du passage de "nouveau" vers "nvidia"

En fait non, j'ai installé un paquet via Snap qui s'appelle google-webapp qui regroupe quelques apps dont je me sers, par exemple l'agenda Google que je laisse toujours ouvert sur mon second écran. Et toutes les apps de ce paquet ne tournent pas si je ne suis pas sur Gnome-Xorg.

Mais bon en dehors de ça je dois dire que tout semble fonctionner.

Bon au moins je suis certain que tout est en ordre et que Nvidia et Xorg ne font pas bon ménage.
