[Abandon] CPU souvent trop élevé MX-18.1

Bonjour les ami(e)s, je viens d'installer «fraîchement» dans le portable Toshiba Satellite d'un ami Debian «MX-18.1», un bureau XFCE. Un super OS en passant, j'aime beaucoup. Le problème n'est pas le système mais de 1: la carte graphique malheureusement est une ATI Radeon. 2: le CPU monte au maximum très souvent surtout quand plus que 2 applications sont ouvertes et 3: regarder des vidéos en streaming sur YouTube ou autres c'est nul à chier surtout quand on veut visionner des vidéos plein écran, l'image fige souvent, qualité très médiocre.

Donc je cherche à gauche et à droite des solutions mais je n'avance pas. Rien ne fonctionne. Je veux absolument éviter d'installer la carte graphique propriétaire sachant que la plupart du temps ça créer plus de problème. Je préférerais configurer le CPU et changer le mode actuel par défaut. C'est ce que j’essaie de faire ce soir mais sans succès. J'ai donc aboutit à Cpufrequtils et j'ai essayé tant bien que mal à changer la valeur dans la configurations des «gouverneurs»pour «conservative» mais je n'y arrive pas. C'est compliqué tout ça pour moi. La fatigue n'aide pas. Quelqu'un peut m'aider s.v.p. à y voir plus clair? Merci à l'avance...

on sait pas la config du pc, il nous faut + de détails.
donnes le retour de cette commande stp

ensuite les pilotes proprio pour la carte graphique ne sont pas si catastrophiques que ça, il suffit de bien savoir les installer et ça roule sans soucis (je suis bien placée pour en parler wink )

pour le cpu en surcharge, je pense pas que cpufrequtils soit utile, je l'avais testé sur mon pc et ça me posait + de soucis qu'autre chose..
si le cpu est faiblard y aura pas 500 solutions hmm
va falloir essayer de limiter les services en arrière plan, et prendre l'habitude d'ouvrir un logiciel à la fois..

La commande cpufreq-info fournit quand même quelques informations intéressantes, que donnent :

cpufreq-info -m --stats

grep name /proc/cpuinfo


Si l'idée est de « débrider » la fréquence du CPU, cela pourrait se faire via le BIOS (Intel SpeedStep).

lspci -nnkd ::0300

dmesg | grep firmw


Ces deux commandes nous en diront davantage sur le GPU principal – et l'éventuel firmware chargé.

ok donc déjà on a les références des principaux composants du pc.
les soucis avec le cpu sont ""normaux"" dans le sens ou c'est vraiment un cpu entrée de gamme et qui a 6 ans.
un dual core avec une fréquence si basse sera forcément en difficulté avec le multi-tâches, et pour un si petit cpu, lire une vidéo youtube se relève être un défi.

vu que c'est un pc full AMD les pilotes libres devraient en théorie être parfait.
Mais plusieurs choses m'interpellent, déjà c'est que la température est vachement élevé (57°C alors que le pc est allumé seulement depuis 4 minutes d'après le retour de inxi)
1.5 Go de ram utilisé ça me parait colossal pour du xfce (même si le navigateur web est en fonctionnement, c'est beaucoup trop)
sur ma cinnamon j'ai autant de ram utilisé avec une dizaine d'onglets ouverts sur chromium, + audacious + qterminal + mailnag + mes différents scripts + redshift + le bluetooth + les applets de cinnamon.
donc la mx linux a l'air bien chargé en logiciels (in)utiles, je pense qu'un tri ferait pas mal wink

sur mon pc de secours qui a 15 ans, j'avais essayé cette MX linux, et pour un détail qui m'échappe, c'était assez mitigé le résultat, gros ralentissements, des freezes multiples.
du coup j'ai installé une Debian minimale avec Lxde et comme par magie le pc est fluide, et + véloce que quand il était sous XP, c'est pas une fusée non plus hein le hdd d'origine a 15 ans, mais il est largement utilisable et je peux regarder une vidéo youtube sans que ça lague, comme je peux surfer avec 2-3 onglets ouverts tout en écoutant de la musique sans que le pc ralentisse.

je comprends pas pourquoi t'as pas installé directement une Debian, ça aurait été peut-être meilleur niveau performance.!??

Melissa, j'ai déjà essayé un pur Debian mais je n'ai eu que des soucis. Au départ la vue de tout était beaucoup agrandi. Ensuite j'ai installé le pilote graphique, la vue était normale sauf que l'écran déchirait, «zig zaguait», c'était trop pénible, trop d'heures à chercher des solutions qui m'amenait nulle part. MX 18.1 a été facile à installer et tout semble être out-of-the-box et grand public pour un système Debian. Surtout aucun souci tout fonctionne, tout est nickel sauf cette CPU. Alors je fais quoi? Même si je change d'OS ça ne règle pas ce problème de base. Je ne pense pas qu'en supprimant des programmes ça va changer quoi que ce soit. Je ne sais plus trop quoi faire.

J'essaie toute sorte de trucs, rien ne fonctionne, le CPU monte au plafond tout le temps. C'est pas normal. Regarder des vidéos sur YouTube c'est de la marde! (Marde c'est merde en québécois) Je fais quoi maintenant?

Oui c'est vrai que c'est un peu faiblard comme CPU, mais quand même roll
La dessus je fait tourner une LMDE xfce, sans trop de problèmes (c'est pas violent, je l'admet, mais utilisable).
Même les vidéos YT sont regardables.
Alors oui comme dit Mélissa, MX doit embarquer pas mal de mardes pour charger à ce point la ram et le cpu.
As tu regardé quels procéssus consomment autant? juste le navigateur? ou d'autres?

Et pour en revenir a ton soucis pour installer debian, c'est assez étonnant si MX passe sans problème, debian pure
devrait passer encore mieux car il n' y a pas les surcharges de MX.
Un peu comme si je disais LMDE s'installe sans pb , par contre debian 8, non...

En ce qui concerne la partie graphique, fglrx fonctionne bien sur un GPU HD 7340, mais aucun avantage par rapport
au libre radeon. En revanche pas fait l'essai avec amdgpu (libre ou pro), mais je ne pense pas que les HD 7340
soient pris en charge par ce nouveau pilote.

Pour terminer, Mélissa a raison, pas normal, 57°C alors qu'il vient de démarrer et pas chargé.
Un bon dépoussièrage avec changement de pâte thermique (surtout si elle date de 2011 roll) , ne ferai pas
de mal.Même si ça ne résoud pas le problème de surcharge.

Ma conviction pour ton pb, c'est que la solution de Mélissa est la bonne: debian pure + bureau léger (normalement avec
xfce ça devrait le faire, mais si pas satisfait...LXDE)

@hermes333, essaye une Ubuntu, ou même mieux une Ubuntu Mate, plus légère et regarde si tes soucis sont toujours là. Teste les en live-usb.

Bonjour,
Conseiller Ubuntu Mate comme plus léger que MX sous Xfce... J'ai 2 gros doutes.
Plutôt antiX si le PC est vraiment faible.
Chez moi et avec le même PC, Xubuntu, LMDE, MX ou Debian ont quasi les mêmes performances.
A voir si htop montre si une application surcharge le système.

Salut,
non pas plus léger que MX, c'est sûr, mais je disais plus léger qu'Ubuntu. A voir si c'est mieux reconnu. Avec le live usb c'est vite vu si tout est reconnu et fonctionne mieux.

Merci les ami(e)s, Ubuntu peu importe le bureau on oublie ça, que ce soit Mate, même Linux Mint c'est la catastrophe. J'avais installé en début d'année LMDE 3 Cinnamon dans ce portable mais il était devenu tellement lent et chargé récemment, juste aller chercher une application dans le Menu c'était lent et sur internet aussi c'était terrible, je tapais un mot à la fois dans le moteur de recherche Google et l'attente était longue, donc c'est pourquoi maintenant j’essaie autre chose. C'est tout de même 100 fois mieux maintenant avec MX-18.1, ce n'est pas 100% parfait mais je retournerai pas avec LMDE 3 avec ce portable. Je crains aussi un Debian pur, ce fut trop laborieux et plein de difficultés quand je l'ai essayé.

J'ai oublié d'ajouter que ce portable a été nettoyé en 2018 il n'y a pas si longtemps, la pâte thermique a été changée aussi à la même occasion donc ce ne sont pas des solutions à mon problème.

autour de 11% de CPU utilisés par Xorg, c'est beaucoup je pense même avec une petite config.
Par contre le CPU n'est pas saturé.
A voir si les logs montrent des problèmes du coté de xorg.

en effet 11% de charge cpu juste pour Xorg, c'est pas normal...
si je compare avec mon pc, je suis à 1.5% de charge cpu pour Xorg.

mais en même temps d'après les captures d'écran, on voit que le load average est pas si élevé que ça (0.38 au maximum, en tout cas sur la capture de htop)
si le load average commence à dépasser la valeur 2.0 (vu que t'as 2 cœurs sur ce cpu) alors là on pourra dire que le cpu est vraiment trop chargé et sollicité.

faudrait voir du côté de Xorg, 11% d'utilisation c'est anormal.

c'est bizarre les soucis avec Debian, au final Mx ça reste une debian avec juste systemd en moins hmm roll

tout me semble correct et tu est en testing sur cette machine.
je vois du sans fils (souris ou clavier peut être) , camera  etc .........
tester une stretch bureau LXDE , désactiver certaines choses peut être , ton gpu est petit (driver libre R600) avec peu de mémoire avec la définition de ton écran ça demande pas mal de ressources (sur une vidéo par exemple ).
ce n'est pas un problème d un matériel mal configuré , tu lui demande peut être trop  hmm
donne le retour de ceci (erreurs)

mais a mon avis ça va être correct .
ps: pour l'affichage en général , tout ce que le gpu ne peu traiter c'est le cpu qui va le faire mais plus difficilement .
choisir un OS simple , épuré de tout ce qui n'est pas indispensable et un petit bureau. (sobre )

il est pas en testing, il est sur une Mx Linux wink
et tester debian il y a fait, il a dit qu'il avait plein de soucis, ce qui est étonnant vu que Mx se base sur debian, ça devrait bien fonctionner roll
pour ce petit pc il faudrait prendre l'habitude d'avoir une utilisation très soft, et vraiment faire une seule chose à la fois.... sad

Je n'ai pas vraiment envie de changer d'OS encore. Ça va tout de même beaucoup mieux qu'avec LMDE 3 Cinnamon, c'est presque le jour et la nuit. Je vais voir pour les applications inutiles mais je ne pense pas que supprimer des logiciels est une solution au CPU élevé. J'irais peut-être voir aussi du côté des application qui se lance au démarrage parce que à chaque démarrage du bureau, le CPU est à 100% et il descend après un moment.

chromium a la place de firefox
lxde comme bureau (1Go de sdram en mémoire vive)
je regarde les vidéo en HD sans souci (éviter de lancer d'autres applications ).
bref comme te dit melissa6969 une utilisation moins agressive
pour les erreurs nickel , si tu optimise ton OS et ta façon de l'utiliser pas de raison que tourne pas correctement.
je parle pas des applications mais des démons qui tournent en arrière plan et pas toujours utile.
enlever des programmes ne sert a rien

tu as quoi comme config ? (ram - type cpu - vitesse cpu) ?

je viens de monter une V.M. 4096 Mo Ram 4 threads 50 Go Hdd .

au départ d'après  Mx , le cpu ne dépasse pas 5% d'activité .

sans aucun programme lancé , je n'arrive jamais à 100 % mème pour une très très brève période .

par contre , à l'installation , j'ai eu des soucis  avec les  dépôts .

MX était réglé par défaut sur des dépôts allemands qui ne fonctionnaient pas correctement .

la reconfiguration sur les dépôts de strasbourg ("est" de la  france) a résolu le problème .

pour en revenir à ton souci , à la mise en service , chromium-l10n grimpe en pointe à 50% du cpu durant un très très bref espace de temps .

vraiment à l'allumage de chromium . en temps ordinaire , sans activité de chromium (en service) , le cpu est à 1-2%

à la lecture d'une video (chromium) , le cpu monte à 50 % environ puis se stabilise à à peu près 25 % .

voilà .

si çà peut t'aider ...

N.B. : sur  RPI (3B+) le proc monte à 30 % lors de la lecture d'une vidéo avec vlc
pour chromium , à l'allumage , le RPI monte à 75 % environ en pointe et se stabilise  aux environs de  35 % en lecture d'une vidéo (avec chromium , toujours) .
