cdrskin: FAILURE : SCSI command 2Ah yielded host problem: 0x7 SG_ERR_DID_ERROR (Internal error detected in the host adapter)
et une recherche fait remonter de la lecture :
A DID_ERROR typically indicates the driver software detected some type of hardware error via an anomaly within the returned data from the HBA.
A hardware or san-based issue is present within the storage subsystem such that received fibre channel response frames contain invalid or conflicting information that the driver is not able to use or reconcile.
Please review the systems hardware, switch error counters, etc. to see if there is any indication of where the issue might lie. The most likely candidate is the HBA itself.

et aussi
So we have as main suspects for the problem:
- The drive's inner electrics and mechanics.
- The power supply of the drive's box.
- The converter in the box from the drive's own bus controller to USB. (Ye olde Parallel SCSI, old IDE, and SATA are candidates.)
- The USB controller in your computer (and its internal connections).
...
I now have a workaround for my problem with the Teac W5000U DVD drive
and 64 bit computer. Was somewhat hard to find, but I obtained a USB
controller card new enough to be PCI express but old enough not to
support USB 3.0. So far, have not suffered any more controller resets.
The card uses the ehci rather than xhci drivers. This suggests but does
not prove some sort of incompatibility between the DVD drive and xhci.
Since xhci is what everyone is supposed to be using these days, this
qualifies more as a workaround than a solution. But it is good enough
for me.
