Donc tu pourras passer à Debian 9 32 bits en faisant une mise à niveau. Si tu veux Debian 9 64 bits, il faudra ré-installer.
Pour passer à Debian 9, voilà comment faire. Je suis aussi récemment passé d'une Handy Linux 2 à Debian 8 puis Debian 9 donc je t'enverrai ce que j'ai fait
Avant tout, on va vérifier que niveau matériel ça ne posera pas de problèmes. Peux-tu donner les retours de ces commandes ?

Pour nVidia, on va déjà regarder si tu as installé un pilote propriétaire installé. Donne le retour de cette commande (il sera long) :
Et colle bien le retour entre les balises CODE. Chez moi ça donne ça 
Concernant la RAM, mieux vaut tester DFLinux Stretch en session live pour avoir une idée, avant de faire la mise à niveau.
Sinon, on doit pouvoir te trouver de la RAM à un prix abordable si besoin Tu peux aussi donner ce retour pour nous informer sur la RAM que ta machine peut avoir :
